Lighted Make up mirrors

Hi Guys

I need some advice!!!

I'm thinking of investing in a lighted makeup mirror. I was just wondering what people think of these? Are they worth it as I've hear mixed things and does anyone have the Revlon Deluxe Oval Lighted mirror - http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/p ... MIRROR.htm

Better idea IMO-
a full-spectrum light next to your makeup mirror and/or put your mirror next to a window.

Tends to do a better job than the lighted mirror IMO but then again I've never owned a high-end makeup mirror.

But I find that the full-spectrum light combined with light from a window gives me great visibility - and it has the added benefit of boosting your mood in the winter or in northern climates.

I tend to go out on the balcony (no, the flat is NOT posh, I just lucked out and got 15 feet or so of balcony to go with it) to do a final check on my makeup if it's going to be an outside day. Boy, is there a difference between that and the bathroom mirror. And very good for picking up not-quite-blended blush or bronzer.

I made some foundation with a bit of peach in it for flourescent light days. It looks kinda bleh on me in other lighting conditions, but something about the peach seems to cancel out that awful greeny-grey I get from flourescent lighting.

Back when I did have a high-end for the times make-up mirror - 4 lighting settings - it did make doing my face a bit quicker, with fewer unblended spots. I'd still check in natural light as a final - even just by the window helps.

It doesn't look like it'll break the bank, so if you like it, then I'd say go for it. Presumably if it's an abject disaster it can be returned?

I have a makeup mirror very similar to that one and like it very much. My only problem with it is that my kitties like to touch the base to turn it on. I'm sure the life expectancy of the bulb will be much shorter than most! Lauren

Good point about the office/fluorescent setting. That would be nice to have.
