How are the serums?

Post by karen » Thu Mar 26, 2009 1:20 am

So- I know I like the serums, but I don't really count. How are you all liking them? Do they seem to be working- do they need any changes? Do you love them or hate them? Jen seems to think a few need to be a little thicker- and I don't disagree. I'm trying to figure out if they need to be in the next collection so any feedback is much appreciated.

Ok, i am trying to do a fairly methodical test of each of them for you but i've only done the vitamin c peptide so far.
I'm testing without having read the descriptions, so i'm hopefully fairly uninfluence and have no particular expectations.
I'm 20, and have normal skin- which is dry in winter and oily in summer. Probably not the best judge of anything that is intended to fight wrinkles... :)

Vitamin C Peptide
Tested for 5 days, used once a day.
I don't have an issue with the texture.
After putting it on my face my skin feels very tight. It's not dry exactly but...tight.
I found that my skin is slightly less oily and has a much smoother texture.
It is noticably more evenly coloured too.
Having since read the description i would say my skin is firmer (accounts for texture change) and lightened, which i like.
From having used it for five days i would say i can see a change, but obviously a longer testing period is needed.
I would continue to use it if i kept seeing an improvement in skin texture and colour, but i really don't like how it makes my skin feel so tight. It's probably not really targeted at me with all those age fighting ingredients.

Anyway that's the only one i've done so far. I hope it helps. I can test the rest of them in the same way if you would like...

I put a review in the other thread about the Green Tea and Aloe serum - excellent results tackling chronic dehydration and it diminished an inherited "reflective shiny" appearance I have on my skin because of dehydration. (All the family have that).

It's been almost a week now and I'm every bit as delighted. Daytime I use less moisturiser over the top (Neals Yard Hydrating Frankincense cream) and my skin does not get super-oily any more. It stays matte for a few hours and dewy through the afternoon and only needs a touch up by late afternoon. Before, it'd be needing repairs and blotting within a couple hours. My skin is also slightly less red, I think because it's a little less stressed from the not having as much of a problem to cope with in the dehydration. Overnight, instead of sliding off the pillow with an oily face in the morning, I've still got an oily forehead but the rest is much more even.

I'd like a slightly thicker texture to the serum, just enough so that it doesn't run down my fingers as I place a little on my fingertips ready for application. I can't think of any other improvements at this stage, based on initial results. For info, I'm 34, somewhat weather-beaten living in a harsh, seaward climate, have sensitive, irritable skin prone to dehydration (inducing oiliness), line-free but can be a little crinkly under the eyes on a bad day ;)

At the moment I'm testing the Grean Tea and Aloe serum and so far I am totally happy.
I am 24 years old and have dry and very sensitive combination skin. I think the consistence is great, not too liquid and not too thick. After applying the serum the skin is kind of sticky, but that goes away when the fluid soaked into my skin. So far, I like the effects of the serum: it smoothes my skin, gives enough moisture and let my skin breathe. No allergic reactions so far. But in a few days I can say more about that.

So far: Thumbs up!

Anyone reviewing the anti-sagging serum?
I am using it every morning. It seems to have an effect immediately, but last only for a few hrs.. gone in the afternoon. Could be my imagination?
(I am in my thirties, normal skin, some fine lines ard eyes, occasional zits)

I am wondering, is it supposed to
(1) Gradually produce results if continued use for 2-3 weeks, or
(2) Immediate effects that last for a while hours?

Any experience to share?

No- 20 year old skin is not a good test of wrinkle fighting, but I think that is very very subjective, and so dependent on a lot of different factors. The vitamin c is a very good habit to get into no matter what your age, and it's pretty much good for everything. Peptides are overkill for you though. I guess that's something for me to think about. I'm at the age where I want every last wrinkle fighter I can get my hands on. It does have a tightening effect- hmmm....

They do have a cumulative effect on skin. The wrinkle plumping you're seeing when you put it on is from the hydration, and as the day goes on the skin gets more dehydrated and they come back. Tamarind seed extract improves skin pretty instantly, and then over a period of time you'll see more lasting effects- especially combined with the vitamin complex which should help restore your skin's barrier so it won't get as dry as easily. That's the theory anyway. I've been using them for several weeks, and I do seem to not need lotion as much.

I love the rose serum, I posted in another thread about this just a few moments ago. Are these going to be permanent? I would love to try the facelifting serum as well. The consistency is nice, not too thick. I think this one is great in it's present state.

I agree that the Rose is a good consistency. I would not change a thing about it. The Green Tea and Aloe is also about the same. The one that needs a little thickening is the DMAE Serum. It still works, but at a little thicker texture it will be much easier to apply.

I am not sure where we are on the serums. The gumballs of them did sell out. We are most likely waiting on feedback. So anyone who has tried them, let us know what you think!

I haven't had the serums long enough to test them properly, but my initial reaction is, "Wowsers!"

Also, I just have to say that I really like the consistency of all of the serums.

I can't reply to the use of Karen's serums, as I didn't place my order soon enough, they were sitting in my cart waiting to go, but I was lazy, my fault. However, I would like to add that I have used a different Vitamin C serum for the consisitently for the past 2 years, and have noticed a cumulative effect. I had a couple of very dark spots on my face, and they have both lightend to the point that they are not as noticable with or without makeup and the general texture and appearence of my skin has dramatically improved, If Karen's work as well or better, you bet I will be giving them a try if they become a permenant product.

I also will share the tip that the local estheacition (sp) told me when I started using my Vit. C serum, you don't want to rub serums in, rather just pat them into your skin,
