Stir Crazy

Post by LionT » Tue Feb 24, 2009 11:52 am

I received my free Stir Crazy. It is beautiful, wonderful , sparkling and very pretty. I tried it on my wrist and it looks so good.
However, it just doesnt look good on my eyes. I look sick. Did I do something wrong ? or it is just that my skin tone is no no for this shade of green?

No, it's the same for me. It's a really pretty colour, but on my pale yellow-white skintone, the green looked wrong for me. Teals are usually okay but do stick out as they clash with my colouring, but anything olive doesn't work at all. I think maybe that the combination of the two stopped it working for me - it looked wrong against my pink skins bits and looked wrong over my colour-corrected yellow foundation.

The closest colour to it I can think of, but by no means a match, is EDM's Cypress or Smashbox's cream eyeliner Image. Those can look amazing wet lined but still look really wrong as an eyeshadow (proper) washed over the lids. I've passed mine on to a friend but maybe give that a go, try wetlining it as an eyeliner (under lower lashes is a good place) and I bet it'll be pretty. I saw a swatch someone posted here and it looked sensational on their hand and on mine also, but as you said, not on the eyes where it needs to go. Can't win them all - but it's fun trying and finding out! ;)

OMGosh, I have EDM's Cypress and it makes me look bruised. Haha! I was wary of Stir Crazy because anything with grey or green can tend to look bruised on me. But I am sure Stir Crazy is beloved by other ladies out there. I usually stay away from greens, but at the recommendation of one of the ladies here, i bought and love SN's Charmed. Very pretty.

OK.. so I'm not alone..
Well, I'm thinking how to mix with some other color to make it more usable for our skin tone type ... Any ideas?

i've dubbed it "camo-teal". I paired it with lilac and it doesn't look bruised but it is a little ashy. I can't get a good photo of it on though.

In defense of Stir Crazy, it has become my new favorite. My skin color is fair, with hazel eyes. The color is perfect for me - one of those that you try for the first time and say, "Where has this been all my life!!" I've been pairing it with Vapor for a daytime look and the combination is beautiful. Interesting, isn't it, that one color can look fab on some people and lousy on others. I wish you luck in your mixing adventure to make it just right for you.

Ooh I bet that looks pretty on you, lcash :) It's funny, as you say, there can be subtle differences which make things work or not work. Like for me, cool toned blue doesn't work, but I can live in purples, warm blues (multi-toned) and purples. Same with cream, beige and gold, but I can't touch anything tan like Aztec. Glad you love it :) Stir Crazy is gorgeous and worth having just to look at lovingly in the jar ;)

Well, to me, Stir Crazy sounds just up my alley...but I just missed it. If there is anybody that tried it and wasn't thrilled with it and wants to do a swap or something, PM me.

I even love the name, Stir Crazy!!

Oh.. I foiled it and it looks different - a brighter, more intense color. I foiled it and use it as a liner. Seems to work!
