moisturizer
Hi ladies,
I just ordered the vitamin c gumball and was wondering what moisturizer you all have been using or that you love! I have been doing the oil cleansing method but normally do that at night so I don't really have a moisturizer to put on during the day.... anyways just looking for a good moisturizer that soaks in quickly for the face!

Re: moisturizer
For now I'm using the Olay face cream for sensitive skin from Walmart. Maybe someday Karen will make a facial cream.

Re: moisturizer
I use a few different things, but usually a mix of HA Serum from Garden of Wisdom and a drop of Emu oil. I just add my scoop of ACTive powder to it, blend it in my hands and gently rub it on my face. Then I top with my sunscreen for the day.
ETA: My sunscreen is a physical one. My skin does not like avobenzone.

Re: moisturizer
It could be just about anything so long as there's water in it- there's a little bit of silica to keep it free flowing, you shouldn't have to worry about greasy as much as other characteristics. Cheap works just fine- the ACTive powder is what makes most skin care expensive. If you have oily skin, even aloe vera works just fine.
I know- I want Karen to come up with a good moisturizer too. I know she's tried a few hundred formulas looking for the perfect ones...

Re: moisturizer
I like Olay Total effects every night and morning and night in the winter when I never see the sun long enough to recognize it! In the summer, I like Olay Regenerist with SPF 30 in the morning, heavier SPF 50 Neutrogena if I'm going to be in the sun a lot. Unfortunately, I burn like bacon, so I try to restrict outside activities in the most direct sun-part of the day, wear big hats, etc. Already had one sibling battle with melanoma - trying to avoid being the next. Unfortunately, I can't control the massive damage of repeated sunburns when iodine and baby oil when I was in my blissful youth anyone else remember that in the '70's? Similar to greasing the bacon before putting it in the hot pan!) I do appreciate the additional SPF from SN makeup, though I don't count on it for protection. Also looking forward to my gumball of vitamin C powder! L.
Re: moisturizer
Oh boy I hope you like it! There's green tea extract in the powder, and the NIH has published some really impressive clinical studies with regards to sun damage, and skin cancer (in mice it can shrink tumors). Drinking it is supposed to help quite a bit too. They're all pretty early studies so I'm not getting my hopes up, but there really aren't any side effects, or dangers from putting it in skin care- so I went with it. It's supposed to be as good as benzoyl peroxide for treating acne too.
A word of caution- if you're really super diligent about sunscreen- use the Vitamin C powder as a night treatment. Sunblocks are very specific formulas and little differences here and there can really effect the way that they work. A physical block like zinc oxide will be just fine but if you're using one with avobenzone or something like that (I think the Oil of Olay ones use it)- don't take chances- just use the C powder at night. The C powder won't make your skin more sensitive to the sun, but it may have a negative effect on the sunblock you're using. I didn't even think about that...yeesh. I use Peter Thomas Roth Instant Mineral Powder sunscreen- expensive, but it's sooo easy to use- and I can get my husband to wear it (he won't wear lotions), and it lasts me about a year.

Re: moisturizer
Thanks for the word of warning, Karen. I'll definitely use the Vitamin C at night, not during the daytime. L.
Re: moisturizer
I edited my above post to add that my sunscreen is a physical one.
I will also add that my HA serum is water based. For those that use oils and hydrosols (or any kind of setting spray), you could do a few sprays of the hydrosol in your hand with a bit of the ACTive Powder and add your oil. Blend in your hands and gently rub on your face. Even something as simple as water, jojoba, and Active powder would work. The water is needed to dissolve the powder and hydrate your face, and the oil kind of seals it in.
I know Karen's moisturizer will be great when it is ready. She is pretty picky!!!

I vote for Aubrey Organics - any of their products are excellent.
Re: moisturizer
i really like the base creams as well from garden of wisdom. and as a "base" cream, they are great for adding anything you want!
