Ok, 'fess up, whose already seen "Twilight"?

Post by ladycattat » Sat Nov 22, 2008 2:22 am

me!me!me!
My girlfreind was supposed to go with me to the Street Fair we have every Friday Night. Then we were going to have drinks and dinner and go see Twilight. And she bailed on me! Dang, there I was all dressed up and no place to go....LOL, so I just wandered around the street fair by myself, ate some tacos, and saw an earlier show. I think I was the only person in there over 30.
FAKE SPOIILER ALERT: Its about really, really gorgeous vampires, and young love, and yearning looks. Lots and lots of yearning looks. Kinda made me wish to be in love with a really hot young vampire dude.

I actually thought the acting was pretty good. I really don't know how faithful it stayed to the book since I read it over 2 years ago and I have forgotten a lot.
If you liked the book, you will totally dig the movie I think.

Hi all

Oh I'm going to see when it comes out over here on 19th Dec, but not before I've read the book which I'm going to start tomorrow. I'm going with my little sister who's 17, but cause she's only 4ft 10"/11" we have to take her student college card with us to prove her age LOL

I for one can't wait to see it and I haven't even read the bok yet. Usually I like anything with vampires in it LOL.

DH and i went last night. it was pretty faithful to the book and i thought they did a good job...DH was very nice to go with me as the whole movie definitely was *chock full* of yearning looks as laurie mentioned. it's really only the exposition to the whole series, so not much action (although there is some good stuff near the end).
i read the books in the last couple weeks and they were a good diversion. i'm not a fan of the writing or the characters in particular (i called my friend who is a YA author and asked her what she thought of them, and interestingly enough she was able to articulate--because of her background and education in writing--everything that bothered me but couldn't put my finger on); but the story is certainly intriguing and entertaining. i thought the casting in the movie was excellent. watching good looking people is always fun, lol :)

I am going to see it but haven't gone yet. I am hoping to go next Saturday. I am trying to let some of the "hype" die down first - plus I really won't have an opportunity to go before next weekend. I've already heard quite a bit about it though and I'm sure I'll hear more tomorrow because people from work will have gone over the weekend. I have a friend at work who read the books about the same time I did and I'm pretty sure she will have seen it already. I am not planning to like it more than I liked the book - if I do like it even as well, it will be a pleasant surprise.
Twilight is in the realm of Harry Potter for me - "fantasy" that I really have enjoyed. On Sarah's recommendation, I finally have read a few of the Dark Hunter books. The stories are really good and hard to put down once you start reading, but it's going to be harder for me to read all of them because the books aren't as easily accessible as Twilight/HP, etc - plus there are around 13? or so of them so far, I think. I'm thinking I'll probably keep on with them though, because, of course, now I'm interested!! As far as guilty pleasures go though, (to me anyway) Dark Hunter is way more that than Twilight is. ;)
