Snowpocalypse 2011

Post by karen » Tue Feb 01, 2011 7:29 pm

Wow- it's supposed to be really yucky here and pretty much everywhere else tomorrow. The forecast here is for freezing rain, and ice which can take out power lines pretty quickly.

I have no idea what tomorrow's weather will actually bring, but if you don't hear anything from me it's because we have a power outage. I hope everyone stays safe and warm though this blizzard.

Dear Karen, I wish you luck.

We had such a rain on 27th Dec and spent 10 days without electricity, heat and water. Though now it is fun to remember. (Energy was appearing for some periods - we used it to heat the house, cook as much food as we could and wash dishes and fill everything we could with water)) It was - 10C on the street and +13C up to +19C in the house. Though we had electricity on the New Year Night.

One cold night we spent at our neighbours as we couldn't heat our house before the night enough. It was funny.

And we've burnt lots of candles.

Just keep optimistic whatever happens!

Wish you all to be safe!

"Snowpocalypse" is right. I'm a hardy Mainer and all but a forecast of two feet of snow makes me want to hide under the covers until spring.

Stay safe, everybody. :)

Everyone stay safe and warm ! We are having freakish weather here in southern Virginia tomorrow as well. But it's not snow, ice or even rain that is different. Our high is supposed to be 70* tomorrow ! Please, nobody kill me  we are probably going to get nasty thunderstorms if that brings any pitty? (wimpers and runs off)

Today we've had accumulations from sleet. I don't know if we've gotten any snow, but it is back to freezing rain again. We're supposed to get snow later tonight. Thankfully, I had today off work, and I have tomorrow off as well (one of the benefits of working for a school).

Everyone, please be safe.

Heidi: I won't kill you, but right now it is 0 and I have no idea what the wind chill is. I do know that the projected low tonight is -25 and that is without the windchill!!. We don't have much snow, but the cold is miserable.

Karen, and every body else who is affected by this storm please stay in and be safe.

I'll be washing my cars for all the SN girls who are going to be stuck in with the storm.
It will only last one day and then we will be getting colder again. We'll be up in DC on the weekend and fully expect snow to be part of the equation.
Seriously thou, stay safe and warm and have some candles ready :)

We had a snow day here in Texas. The high was in the 20's and tonight they said would get down to 10 degrees. We are having another snow day tomorrow. We only actually got sleet and no snow. Stay safe and warm everyone.

Hmmmm. I am just listening to the sleet hitting my windows. It sounds kind of cool, but the cat is not happy.
