Hi girls! I'm yet another newbie to Silk Naturals, and I'm thrilled to say I just ordered a ---load of samples. I can't wait to get them so I can PLAY! I have some questions regarding shade comparisons to other brands. I am pretty fair to light skinned, sometimes in the summer I can fall into a medium category. I do have some healing acne and discoloration from old break outs (they take forever to fade on me.) In Bare Escentuals I fall into the fairly light to medium beige category. Sometimes medium beige is a little to dark on me though. In the dead of winter I can wear fair, or fair mixed with fairly light. I ordered the medium and heavy coverage sample kits from SN, and also the color sample kit with all 5 shades, lots of blush samples, finishing powder samples, primers and some glows, and a lip gloss. Any suggestions/recipes as to where I should start with mixing the shades for foundations?
Thanks,
Deb

For fairly light in medium coverage - maybe 8 scoops of Ivory to 1 scoop of Ebony. You may have to play with it a little.
It takes a bit more dark with the medium coverage foundation than with the original to get your color right, and I'm not sure if that's on the recipe page that comes with foundation yet (still awaiting my F/S medium coverage Ivory). And even more with the heavy coverage, but if you're using that as a concealer, you might want to go a tad lighter than your foundation shade anyway.
If you're more warm-toned than cool-toned, go with Warm Gold instead of Ebony. And if you get really stuck, post a picture - one of us will be able to help you out, but it's actually not difficult to mix your own - it just sounds like it

Thanks so much for your advice. I think I will post a picture. The veins on my inner forearm are a bluish-green, if that helps at all. I find that a tad bit of very light yellow in my MMU tends to tone down redness for me, just like in the Fairly light by BE. I am totally psyched to get my samples so I can get to work on finding a great match. From the reviews I've read on Makeup Alley, SN has some very satisfied customers!

Try a sample of the Tempt Tryst Finishing Powder - that's a nice - and very wearable - yellow shade.
