Bloom, Very Berry or Infatuation?

Post by Shirin » Mon Apr 27, 2009 5:51 am

Hello,

I want to give the on the coll side pinks a try (I noticed that Tart looks much better on me than Babydoll, and Tart is the one on the blue side if I'm not mistaken?). I am guessing by this time that my undertone must be ebony, as ebony is on the cool side, and so it can't be peach or yellow as they are on the warm side? I realised yesterday at daylight that my olive fondation is too brown on my skin, my face compared to my cehst looked too brown and too green, some other udnertone missing! Really trying to find out which undertone is missing§ I am guessing it is a cool undertone. Also when i get extremely tanned my skin looks cool and no golden undertones are visible. Almthough I might have some yellow also, some creamy yellow. I will post a pic of my chest, I hope that will help. I really want o get the colros right. I look really really good in blue, in a blue which is drak sky-blue. I can't wear red at all, it confuses me that orange looks as good on me on blue, that is really confusing and makes it ahrd for me to determine my undertone.

I like Bloom, Verry Berry and Infatuiation as colors. Am I right to guess that Bloom will be too warm on me and not the most flattering one, whereas the other two more blue pinks would be better on me? What is the difference between Very Berry and Infatuation? Verry Berry more pink, and Infatuation more cool/purple? Is it plummy? Not sure plum is the good color for me. Was the pic of Infatuation on your hand, Jen, in the gallery, with or without flash?

Peace is a natural pink if I am not mistaken, and I love t, I think rather sthg slighter more blue then sthg more warm than it would look good on me. But I can be mistaken. I noticed on my chest that iut seemed it was more yellow than my afce afetr I wore the foundation.

I think my ski is very difficult to define when it comes to undertones.

Ok here is a pic of me in daylight, where you can see my face and chest. I am wearing olive foundation on my face. (13 or 14 ivory and 2 olive) and date bait. Also wearing Tart as a blush. And wearing Bare (but mixed it with 1/4 sandy) and over it creamsicle and slick, you can't really see it.
Anyway I hope this pic helps to determine the undertones of my skin looking at my chest. I am actually much lighter than I thought!

Please please help me determinig what my undertone is! Maybe I am not even olive?

I really think your foundation might just be too dark. You need a little more Ivory. Try that first. Powder foundation does darken a little once on your skin as it blends with the oil from your skin.

I really don't see any pink or blue in your skintone. Those are the true tests for cool skintone. I do see peach, and slight olive. The only thing that might be missing is a little yellow, but I think that would take you even farther from the tone of your chest. Tart is one of those blushes that looks good an all skintones. It is surprising, but true. I can remember one of the girls at the shop putting Tart on a defintely olive toned lady and it looked absolutely amazing. I don't think you can judge by how Tart looks. If you like Tart, it only follows that you would prefer cooler toned lippies. Bloom will probably be too light, even though it is a cool, washed out pink. Infatuation does lean a little purple, and Very Berry is a great lippie to complement Tart. It is bright cool pink.

Still, I have only seen your pics and have not seen you in real life. I highly doubt you are a straight Ebony, but it is possible you are a blend of Olive and Ebony. Just try lightening what you have first. My swatches are on my arm no flash.

Oh great Jen, thanks a lot, you are really reassuring me, yes i will try lightening it, I see that it gets darker afterwards, that's why i didn't know that.
Seems like Very Berry will be a lippie I will love then, you are right I tend to love slightly bluish pinks. I absolutely love Tart! I was confused, good to know it is a universally flattering color. I will order Very Berry and a full size of Tart. i will lighten my foundation and then see if it's ok on its own. i will try a sample of Tempt Tryst also and I will see what the golden does to my skin.

I mixed 22 ivory and 2 olive and put it on. It was way too dark before so as in intensity of color it is just right now. However, I notice the color is completely different to my chest. It is too cool colored compared to my neck. I see if I can make another pic and post it.
As the undertone missing is definitely a warm one, so it eliminates ebony no?

Your first ratio was about 1:7 (mix1), and your second was about 1:11(mix2). I was thinking about 1:9. If you take equal parts from mix1 and mix2, you will have 1:9. It is possible your second mix was a little light, but allow a little time for it to blend. Olive runs dark. I am 1:15.

Ok, I get it, it might not look right if it is too light. Ok, I'll wait and as soon as my husband comes back I'll ask him to make a pic so i will send it. The thing is my ears always seem lighter than my face. But now it is about teh same color, just whiter.

jen, you were so right. I did the 1/9 mix and it looks like a dead-on match after a few hours. Takes time to adjust to my skin. So happy now!
