SN is great!

Post by Shirin » Thu Apr 09, 2009 11:05 am

Hello Jen, Karen and all ladies,

I have received the products some time ago ( I had written in the old topic email about it) and I love it!
The foundation is great, I love the silky texture, and olive is the right color for me. I use 1 olive and 5 ivory, maybe a tad bit of ivory, because I did 6 ivory and 1 and a half olive, bad in math, hehe!

I might do with some adding of pink for the foundation, a tiny bit, or i just might let it be as it is.

I love Peace, beautiful color, just a bit too light for my skin, I guess texture wise rather. I wish SN had a real rose color, slighly apricot rose?
Breathless is also a gorgeous colro and looks fine on me, however I prefer non-browns as it will clash with my bwronsih skin.

Haven't experienced enough with Tart and Babydoll yet to give it a verdict, beautiful colors both, but maybe not the most flattering ones for my skin, so far I know real rose blush is great on me, probably best colro for me. Because I am using a rosy pink by Sisley and a real rose muted and slightly silvery by La-Roche-Posay and that one is teh best color for me.

Rose is great on me, probably because it doesn't clash with my olive skin and stands out and is yet soft and feminine!

Unfortunately the blushes don't stay long on my cheeks. They seem to disappear after half an hour for some reason!

I can see that the texture of Love Lace is great and it really makes my pores almost disappear and gives a soft reflectionto my skin. However the color is a bit too drak, too brown for me. It really makes my face look darker.
Which one would you suggest to me instead?

All in all, I congratulate Karen for the great quality products which are really a good bargain for that quality. The silk really makes a difference!
Also, I was so amazed, i received the package in 4 days, all the way to Luxembour only 4 days!

Oh, I forgot, the eyeshadows are awesome, absolutely awesome. SN has made me want to wear eyeshadows for the first time!! Now I am converted!
I love Nekkid best, great color for me, opens my eyes and makes me look fresh. And I love the metllic effect. According to an article on site, metallic shadows look great on olive skin, and I can only agree with that, however teh color should not be lighter tan the skin color.
Sandy is a bit too light? too cool pink? on me, it turns on grey on my already brown eye canvas. Posh is nice, but a bit too natural on me, and I think brown looks just ok on me whereas tyhe peachy Nekkid looks "wow" on me.

I would love to purchase more eyeshadows, especially as I don't own many yet! What would you recommend. I love illuminating mettalic effect or shimmery colors, as long as there is no glittery shimmer in them.

I am a bit sad about the feact that minerals, be it foyndation or concealer just don't seem to work for me to conceal my blemsihes, especially my under eye-circles, they make my under-eye wrinkles which are not really deep though, but many fine lines extremely dry, or cakey and very wrinkley. Also the lines on my forehead just pop out for display and i realise that I have developped wrinkles during the past one year!!
i tried to liquify the foundation which i wore on my forhead and under my eyes, but it just doesn't help!

If you have any advise please share. Otherwise I will just not wear any on my forehead and under my eyes. 5I have pretty dark circles under my eyes though).

But again, all in all, I love SN, a toast to Silk Naturals!

Shirin,

I am working on something for you. Since you have given me quite a few details on what you liked and what you did not, I think I can come up with things you will. I am going to try and find the colors you like online to look at them to help me narrow some things down.

Shirin - a very unorthodox piece of advice, briefly. If you have distinctive blemishes that need covered - I do, I have bright red freckle-like scars from the acne-like breakouts I get from food intolerances - and if regular concealer isn't enough.... try the Eye Primer! Dab it on lightly over the blemish with a fine, small brush. It'll leave a white mark, obviously. If the blemish is covered, great! If not, then dab on something pearly as this helps bounce away the light (same principle as light reflecting concealers such as YSL Touche Eclat etc for under eyes, but this works everywhere). Next, apply your foundation as normal over the white dots of concealer. The foundation should grip to the Eye Primer and make a long-lasting coverage but without being obvious, not looking like dots of concealer at all. If you then need more concealing over the top, it'll be less obvious a finish because you're not packing on so much product over the foundation level, the Eye Primer underneath is doing most of the concealing work and is, itself, invisible udner the foundation. Works really well dabbed on with a brush, or lightly patted on with fingertips over larger areas of discolouration. HTH.

Aww thanks a lot Jen,

you are very kind! I love the service here! And I love the quality of the products here. I have been trying to investigate since so long, this is the first time I actually find olive based fondations, overe here in Europe you can't find any make-up for dark olive skin. So I am so happy to have found SN.

I will attach in the FTOD section a photo of me I took today for SN, one without make-up one with the olive foundation on. I hope that will help you. I have quite a lot of blemishes and my face is darker than my neck and chest, so maybe I should wear the foundation a bit lighter.

In the picture with fondation, I wear 1 and a half olive and 6 ivory in medium coverage. Also wearing Peace.

Helena,
Just saw your advice, thanks a lot, will sure try that !

Welcome!!! I'm so glad that you're happy- it really makes my day to get love letters. I read it to all the girls in the shop, and they were equally as excited. I'm working on some special "top secret" things at the moment- but I think you'll really like them!

Helena,
I've tried the Primer trick. It works! Now I have a 2 in 1 product - primer cum concealer!

Back to the original topic. I am one of those ppl whom, once settled on a good product, will not bother with others. I've tried other MMU brands.. SN is the one that is good quality, good price, user friendly enough for me. SN fills my needs. You have a loyal customer here!

Kirin-

I have been loooking at my colors and what is a similar finish to Nekkid. When you first asked about non-glittery, I must have misunderstood. Nekkid is in the higher shimmery range of the products we carry. I think you had also mentioned also that you did not want any shimmer in your blush. I think I found what you like online for blush and it does have shimmer. It seems like we got our messages crossed, which happens often in the written word. Hopefully, with the pics you put up and the information you gave me regarding the products you liked, we can come up with a group of products that are much better!

For colors of eyeshadow that will look stunning on you (thank you so much for the eyeshadow pic on the other thread) try Cashmere and Nudge Nudge. Cashmere is a bit more pink than Nekkid, and Nudge Nudge is slightly plum. All three colors go very well together and are of a similar finish. Karen is right that Sandy will be the perfect brow highlight (one swipe just under your brow) and a corner highlight (a dot in the inner corner of your eye) and your eyes will look brighter and more open.

For lip color, I am recommending Raindrops on Roses. It has no brown, is a few shades darker than Peace, and has the slightest touch of peach color.

For blush I could recommend more powders, but I am thinking that is not the way for you to go. I recommend trying a sample of the cream blush and see if it is something that would last on your skin (probably Loverly is the best choice of the two). And then if it stays on like you would like, beg Karen for a rose color.

For finishing since the Love Lure was a little dark, and the fact that you think you would like a little pink in your foundation, I recommend trying Date Bait.

thanks Jen,

it wasn't a misunderstanding about the shimmer, i did say I don't want any shimmer, but after trying the shimmery eyeshadows I find I quite prefer the metallic ones because it looks better on me than the pearly ones such as posh.
When it comes to blush however, you are right, I don't like any shimmer, I like blushes to look natural and creamy, but no shimmer at all. I love besides light soft peachy rosy colors, sthg like Lovelace, I mean I love the color which is more on the peachy side, I like either rosy or orangy blushes. But I don't like the shimmer in Lovelace, even Babydoll's little shimmer I don't reall like. So this wasn't a misundersatnding at all.

I absolutely love Nekkid, the mettalic aspect looks great on me and the color is subtle, not too pink and mysterious. I love Bare and wonder if it will be too light on me for a wash, I can only do washes. Also Cashmere attracted my attention, subtle metallic color, just wonder if it's not too cool a color for me.
Not sure if I'll like Taupes. Creamcicle also interesting, maybe too light, too bright a color on me. There was this other new color which was awesome, it said Pink Champagne?

Also I think i will try adding peach to my olive, just a bit. Or maybe yellow? What do you think?

I love the purples on your eyes by the way, love pink lilac lippies, and Breathe as a color, but not on me. Don't think it suits me, will make me look tired I think?

The new products are so beautiful, congratulations!
I have placed some serums too in my cart. How often is the anti-aging Vitamin-C and sthg else serum to be used by someone like me who hasn't really got mature skin yet? Just to make my fine lines and turtleneck disappear as much as possible?
And what exactly is a Macrodermasion cream, does it work like a scrub against blackheads, how shall I use it/how often and in combination with a scrub?

Lots of questions again, sorry.

Hi Shirin,

Welcome! I just got my jar of microdermabrasion cream and I truly enjoy it. its got minute granules in it that works like a scrub but it doesn't feel rough like some other scrubs do. I have normal skin but with a slightly dehydrated surface. The unique aspect about this microdermabrasion cream is that it leaves a slightly oily-waxy feel on my skin. Its not unpleasant for me. I use a facial wash after I scrub, and that removes much of the waxy sensation, but my skin feels very supple after that. Unlike other scrubs, there's no feeling of tightness or rawness. Just smooth and suppleness.

Pinkpamelo,

thanks for the info. So I wouldn't need another scrub to get rid of blackheads, that would be enough?! How many times a week do you suse it? I think I have normal skin myself, it is never shiny, so not sure if it is oily, however visible pores on my cheeks.
