Brimstone
Brimstone
I am VERY fair. My perfect match is a light pink color with slight warm undertones. I am intrigue by Brimstone ( actually the Fire and Brimstone combo) but am wondering if I am too pale to wear it. For reference I really like Wink Wink and Nudge Nudge. I was very excited to get my hands on Taupetastic and Idolize after all the rave but they look absolutely HORRID on me!

Re: Brimstone
That's a toughie then. I'm a lot paler than I look in my photo, and I do fine with Idolize and Taupetastic, and Nudge-Nudge Wink-Wink works well for me too. Fire is good, Brimstone is a little more iffy on me, but I can pull it off.
What colour are your eyes?
For reference, my foundation mix is 1 ebony/16 white - and I have a slight gold undertone (very slight, without makeup I look like a corpse) to go with the pink, and green-blue eyes, though most days the green wins.
Eyeshadows I can't wear: Nekkid (which looks great on everyone else), Gidget, Bargain Pink, Disco, Petunia, Cherry Blossom, Cabana, Tutti Fruity, Luxe, Ocean, Sailor, Butterfly Blue, Wave, Raven, Basalt, Truffle, and Tweed's not too flattering, ditto some of the matte greys like Stormcloud.
Why I can wear other pinks like Whisper and Cashmere and have them look great is beyond me - well, actually it may be they're lighter or more cool-toned.
My problems are bright pinks, peachish-pinks, most blues (I can wear a few of them), matte browns, blacks (ugh!), or most matte greys, though Moonstone is okay on me.
If you can match or reverse-match that to your skin tone and eye colour, maybe you can work it out - as I said, Brimstone is okay on me, but not up there in the top ten. It also works better for me straight instead of foiled - foiling makes it too dark. But I expect most women could wear it very well - the tone itself tends to be pretty flattering to most skins, but it might be too dark for some.

Re: Brimstone
Isn't it funny how skintones that are similar still vary?! I have blue-grey eyes and can wear a number of your can'ts. I can wear Ocean, Butterfly Blue and Wave. Nekkid is ok as is Cherry Blosson. Luxe is only passable and I don't have any of the others. Peachy pinks are usually great for me. {inks are good as long as they are not too bright or too cool.I tend not to do well with too warm or too cool I think I'll keep Brimstone on the wish list for now and think about it, LOL!

Re: Brimstone
How about wearing it just as a liner, or in the crease, no more?
I'm very pale, too, but there are ways we can pull off those more dramatic shades... we just need to apply them sparsely and precisely...
When I find out it is still too dark for my taste, I dust a fine layer of Angel glow over my eyes and temples to bring back some light.

Re: Brimstone
I agree with Isabelle- as a crease or liner color it's good, but a little too much for a lid color on someone fair unless you're doing something dramatic. It has some strange undertones- there's purple and green in the color, along with a little bit of a chunky copper pigment.
Really Idolize didn't work on you?? I like it blended with one of the golds...Bare, Honey, maybe Bling (but I haven't tried that combo yet). I'm more pink and pale, but I've seen it look great on warmer tones. I also like it as a liner color- but I like "unexpected" colors for liners.

Re: Brimstone
Oh dear... I almost got Brimstone in my last order... I wish I had put it in the cart. It sounds just like my type of favourite colour and undertones.
Thank goodness your international shipping rates are not horrendous, Karen - it means I can get it soon!

Re: Brimstone
I'll have to try it as a liner. Both it and Taupetastic make me look like someone punched my in the eye. Not a pretty look, LOL!karen wrote:IReally Idolize didn't work on you??
