Roku Rocks!!!

Post by karen » Thu Dec 17, 2009 1:34 am

We just got a Roku box as sort of a family present, and it's incredible! It's a little (sorta ugly) black box that hooks into your TV, and picks up your WI-FI so you can stream Netflix, Amazon on Demand, Pandora and Youtube videos right to your TV (it doesn't work with other sites though). I'm completely in love. It fluctuates a bit when our web is slower, but the picture looks pretty darn good on our 32 inch TV.

Suddenly I'm not completely hating the idea of Winter this year.

They're available at www.roku.com and really they're fairly reasonably priced.

Apparently there are some Blu-Ray players that do the same thing, but we just weren't ready to upgrade yet, and if you an older TV a Blu-Ray is kind of pointless.

We don't have Roku, but we stream Netflix through our Xbox 360 and my husband absolutely loves it! I can't really say because I never get a chance to put anything in queue to watch :?

I've been looking at Roku for a while now. We downgraded our Netflix to unlimited, but one out at a time, and sometimes we just sit on the same movie for a couple months (shame), and keep paying high price for renting down the street and paying hefty late fees. Thanks for the kick, this will now become our xmas gift :) Which one did you get, Karen?

@Susan...I didn't know the 360 could do that! I'm really behind the times with video games. It's kind of the same at our house- last night we ended-up watching Mythbusters- good show, but not exactly the romantic comedy I was hoping for.

@egerandi- We got the HD one because we don't have N wireless in our house- just the regular old sort of wireless. We do have HD and surround sound, so we went with the next model up from the basic one. For my brother and sister we got them the standard version to go with their standard TV's.

Karen - Mythbusters is a big one in our house too...I am the female, so I lose out most times. I feel very fortunate when I can sneak in a romantic comedy :)

We do our net flix through our play station3. It works pretty good. I love net flix. I am way too lazy to be taking movies back all the time.

Hubby and I just got one for our anniversary and love it! We have Netflix and have been watching old episodes of The Office the past few nights. :P

ooh this looks like something I want. I have Netflix and an Xbox, but it's not 360. I think I'll check this out, thanks for the link!
