I think it is still a bit too dark. I also don't think you are cool toned....I do see pink, but it is in the usual places for flushed skin. You are pretty neutral as far as I can tell. Do you know what Buff Perfect is a mix of? Is it FLN and FL, or is there some olive in there? Don't worry...I used to think I was cool toned and matched my foundation to the pinkness from my cheeks. I am going to go way out here....Do you have an Olive sample? I kind of think the slight green will help balance the flushed look. If you can do a half scoop, try .5Olive:8 Ivory. It is a total experiment, but I don't see much yellow, much warm, or much pink that we want to match. That kind of just leaves Olive, and it makes sense to at least give it a shot.

For what you have mixed thus far...2Ebony:11Ivory sounds like a darkish beginning for you. One thing to remember, you will be unable to match foundation by looking at the powder in the jars. Ours generally looks much lighter in the jar, even though it is a match on the skin. Even with the addition of a little Warm Gold, it would need to go lighter than a scoop or two more white. If you think those colors were close, try 1Ebony:.5Warm gold:10Ivory. It should look light when going on the skin, but kind of meld with your skin in about 20 minutes.
Buff Perfect is a 50/50 mix of Buff Fairly Light Neutral and Beige Fairly Light, It is Linen that is 50/50 Buff Fairly Light Neutral and Olive Fair. :)

Jen, I need your expertise :D

I am currently wearing the vegan formula (SO happy with the coverage) in about 7-8 Ivory: .5 Buttery Gold: .Olive. I know the BG has some degree of olive in it. I tried the Olive on its own and that's fine, except I need more yellow, but I think the BG is too...gold for me. Would it make better sense to sub in the Yellow Color Booster, and do some kind of mix with Olive and YCB? Would I add more YCB in compared to the BG?

Thanks :)

cait,
You might have a few options...but adding YCB to an Olive mix might be a good idea. I would work on one color at a time. Try Olive 1: about 10 and then add one scoop of yellow at a time. You might need to add more Ivory.

Another option...have you tried Warm Gold? It is essentially Olive plus yellow, but not as much yellow as Buttery. 1:7 will be close.

I did try warm gold a while ago...something seemed off to me, but maybe it's worth it to try again. Thanks!

Hi All, I'm new here & trying to find my foundation color. I'm thinking Ebony, but I just want to be sure I don't need to start with deep ebony instead. Any thoughts?

Here is a larger link to my avi photo for reference. I'm wearing EDM "light tan" in that photo. I've worn it for a few years, and It's a pretty decent match , but I can't resist the blush over here, so I figured I'd give the foundation a try as well. :D

You are right in the guess of Ebony.....I am thinking 1 scoop color : 10 White.

robinbird_22 gave excellent suggestions for blush. I only want to add that Flirt is a must have for someone with your skintone.

For lipstick.....I am going to suggest the Organic Gloss. I think Nectar and Fig Leaf would be good suggestions that won't be too overpowering. Lipsticks are opaque and offer a definite punch of color. The glosses will add a hint of color without being too much.

When moving to heavier coverage, it works out best to just subtract a few of the whites.
If original is 1:14.....medium is around 1:11 or 12......heavy is around 1:8 to 10

I am amazed that you manage to keep all posters apart and give everyone an answer! I`ve ordered fig leaf and nectar and a sample of flirt, they will be interesting to try. Are the rouges lipsafe? I thought I could try my samples(flirt, embrace and pretty plum) in my next bach of chapstick, an other way of getting just a tad of colour.

I just got my samples today. I ordered ivory and ebony since I heard those would be good for a match to edm's cool fair medium. I was hoping someone could give me an idea on how many scoops of each I should start with. Thank you.

vonvonnie,
I would start with the Deep Ebony. You might be a pretty close match for our regular Ebony straight, and we want to get some of the benefits of the white foundation powders in your foundation mix. Then you will also have a little more control of the color. Start with Deep Ebony about 1:3....you may need a little more white than that.

I noticed that Light Tan is described as having pink and golden tones in it.....there are ways we can adjust the color if the Deep Ebony is not right. In your case, some of the color play will happen with a few color bases. To add pink we might go with the Peach Foundation....and to add Golden, we might add Yellow Booster or Buttery Gold. I know it all sounds like a crazy mess written out this way, but we can also add more Deep colored bases to our line.....and in fact, I think we need to.

Let me know how it goes, and I am happy to help along the way.
