Introducing New Products

Post by BlowFarAway » Wed Nov 25, 2009 11:34 pm

So I have been using just water on my face the past week in preparation for this order of Sn skin care. I obviously want to bring in one thing at a time (was thinking 1-2 weeks before every new product). My question is, what order should I go for introductions.

I got the Kiss Cleanser, Microdermabrasion Gel, 2% BHA Toner, Green Tea & Aloe Serum, Silk,Shea and Aloe Moisturizer, and Hemp Moisturizer. Plus the Pumpkin Mask and Banana Smoothie Mask. I have the French Lavender Moisturizer, Ultimate Luxury Treatment Powder and Organic Olive Oil Moisturizer in the mail. Plus a Pineapple Mist from GoW in a swap.

My end goal is to use the Kiss Cleanser every night, BHA 2-3 nights a week, microdermabrasion gel once a week (no KC these nights), a mask once a week, Hemp moisturizer in the morning.

I was thinking trying the KC first, then introduce the BHA, then the Hemp.. sound good?

Given it's Canada and winter, I'd add in the hemp - not the BHA. BHA can come afterwards - you don't want your skin falling off! Moisturiser gives your skin a layer of protection, and helps your makeup go on smoother, too. It may be just a personal thing, but acids without something to seal in moisture doesn't seem like a good idea this time of year.

I doubt you'll have any problem with the Hemp, but the Green Tea and Aloe would be an alternative - there's not much in that to react to, either, and again, it'll give you some moisture.

Haha ok thanks Rhys, I've just used Vichy Normaderm for years and then moisturizer. All these extra steps are new to me.

I just used the Kiss Cleanser and LOVE it so far, my face feels really clean and smooth, but not tight or dry. I'll take the chance and use the Hemp Moisturizer tonight too, I hate the thought of going to bed without putting one on.

Yes, that's good advice from Rhys. Start with the basics and get to the fancy stuff later. The serums and moisturisers have become staples for some of us so if you give yourself a couple of weeks using just those - time to build some trust in them - then you can gradually add in the 'treatment' stuff and see if any of those cause problems. Very wise to approach it gradually so taht you can thoroughly see the benefit or problems of each product in turn.

As the Kiss cleanser is so gentle, you'd be safe not using a serum for a few days while you get used to the Hemp moisturiser, but once you're happy there, add in the GT&A serum underneath and give it a fortnight or so for *real* improvements.

I think (once you have enjoyed all your new stuff, lol) you NEED to try the apricot oil. It is kind of counterintuitive, being an oil, but it has made my skin way less oily, smoother, and my pores basically disappear. I haven't tried the KISS cleanser yet, because I love the oil so much, lol, but I want to get some to use in the shower, because with the apricot oil you need a dry face.
Oh, I so love SN skincare, the problem is, it is not quite as much fun as the makeup, lol!

I have been using the Hemp moisturizer every morning before my makeup, and every night after washing my face with the Kiss Cleanser. My skin is noticeably smoother all day, my monthly acne is clearing up with no new ones forming, and my pores look almost non-existant in pictures (I consider this a first step, next will be non-existant in person too lol) I figure next Friday I will introduce the BHA, just using it once a week at first and seeing how that goes.

I tried the SIlk/Shea cream on my hands and I actually wasn't a fan, it felt like it had separated I guess is the best description, oilier in some parts and waterier in others.
