I'm been trying foundation samples left and right from so many different MMU companies, and I haven't found THE ONE yet and it's getting pretty frustrating. With Everyday Minerals, Buttered Tan is too light on me, while Olive Medium, which worked better, doesn't have enough yellow in it,and is a bit green on me. Buff'd Moccasin is yellow enough, but I think lacks the olive a bit...Saffron is touch dark on me. I find a close match with Blusche with Mocha Java, but maybe it has a bit of peach or pink? Same with Adorned With Grace's Grace 4.2....pretty close, but a bit too much peach (I'm awaiting samples in Hope 4.2, and 4.5 which is strictly Yellow & Olive undertones). Lauress' Pure Gold is a BIT fair, wearable but casting a slight whitish mask, but adding Fresh Gold seems too dark. Pure Yellow doesn't have the depth but I could pass wearing this one too.
I've attached a rather ugly pic of my just-washed face in the morning. There are touches of pink on my cheeks, but I think that's mainly blood rushing through my face...my neck shows my real skin colouring. Am I considered Buttery Gold or Warm Gold? I do have Yellow undertones, but I'm darker than the average filipino (I think!) so I think I also have a fair bit of olive undertones as well. I"m pretty sure pink or peach don't look like a match on my skin. I"m sorry, but I haven't worn MAC foundation in ages, so I don't know what NC# I am....I"m thinking I'm in the 35-40 range.
What items should I buy to try and get a matching shade? Should I get the sample set? What ratio should I start playing with....I don't know how much the samples will allow for my errors. Sorry for the large pics...I don't mean to scare anyone.
TIA!

Oh, and perhaps I should add that I wanted to get the Medium Coverage Ivory...I guess the mixing ratios change if I mention this, huh?
Again, to clarify my future purchase: should I be ordering just the sample kit and playing around with that, or narrow down the base colours (which you're helping me figure out) and buying everything a la cart...but I believe there's a kit available too? As you can tell, I'm still rather confused.

Hi Cherylanne,
and welcome to our forum! And assuming that is *your baby boy*, he is darling!
You have certainly come to the right place.
I am sure that JenW or one of the other color mavens will be along soon to help you with your color choices, but it is very obvious that you have done your research here, which is a good start. Karen's samples are so very inexpensive that you can play to your heart's content, and make sure you get a good match. Also, make sure to try the blushes, lippies, and eyeshadows. They soon become addicting!

Hi Cherylanne! Welcome to our forum!
As far as I can tell from your pics, and based upon what you have said, Buttery Gold will probably be your best match. However, I do recommend sampling Warm Gold as well. Also, with our foundation if you determine that it is too light or dark, you can easily adjust it yourself. I am just guessing, but I think you will be in the 1 scoop color to 4-5 scoops Ivory.
As far as what you should purchase, that depends on you. I really recommend samples first. Maybe just double up on the Ivory samples to make sure that you have enough. Also, you want to be sure to order at least one as an Ivory sample kit in order to get a scoop. So minimally order a sample of Warm Gold, a sample of Buttery Gold, a sample kit of Medium Coverage Ivory and maybe an additional sample only of Medium Coverage Ivory. Like Laurie, I do recommend a sample of some of the other things also. You might want a sample of Tempt Tryst or Love Lure finishing powders.
Let us know if you have any more questions!

Thanks so much for the help! I'm hoping this is it, and I'll find my match! I will definitely try a few other things too. I've already ordered once from Karen: love my flat top brush! I have birthday suit and bliss...great creamy lippies! I'll try more. But I"ll definitely give a go at some of their finishing powders. I'll put in the order this weekend!

Oh...I'm curious about a matching conceaker. Is sleep in a jar in medium a better match than light peach or should I be looking at the yellow one? I use EM's Sunlight but it really just makes it yellow and I have to cover it up with a light touch of foundation to counter the yellowness. Do I have a more purple undereye colour rather than blue one?? They look worse in person than in photos but I assure you that they're there.
Thanks

The Medium Peach should be right for you.

Yay...my order got shipped today! To cover all my bases, I ordered a Perfect Harmony sample kit (to sample all base colours), a medium ivory kit, a heavy ivory kit (so to try all the formulas and get a mixing jar each), and an extra sample of Buttery Gold and Warm Gold each so to make extra batches in each formula. I did also order extra "ivory only" in original and medium because they may require more white in these formulas.
And in all my confusion, amongst my plethora of other wanted samples (my order ballooned to over $30 again), I forgot to put in sample of the Medium concealer! Next time!

Just an update for future reference:
Today I tried mixing Original Ivory:
2:5 Buttery Gold:Ivory is perfect!
I could probably use a touch of the green corrector. After my next order I'll try adding a half or whole scoop of green. Otherwise, the yellow is bang on!
Next update....Medium Ivory.
