Hi! I can't seem to find anything in SN's catalog that is light enough and a soft enough pink to be considered close to MAC's Angel lipstick or NARS' Turkish Delight lip gloss. Am I missing something that might work? Or am I the only one interested in such muted looks?

I'm hoping to replicate Kim Kardashian's purple smokey eye with the new SN eyeshadows, but I know I need something really muted for my lips so that I don't look, well, tacky. And I've read that the above lipstick and lip gloss are what she wears on a regular basis. Thanks!

There are two ways to mute a hue (a pure color): with gray or with brown. Kim Kardashian looks like she's wearing an opaque pink softened with gray. MAC describes Angel lipstick as "Soft pink (Frost)." NARS describes Turkish Delight lipgloss as "pink sorbet."

Karen's lipsticks offer the most opaqueness but there doesn't seem to be a lipstick matching what you desire. Here's what I think is close:

Aria (YLBB Nude Pink) looks like a light-medium pink slightly muted with gray, but it's described as very sheer, so it won't offer enough opacity to cover up your natural lip color.

Swept Away (Medium Nude Pink Demi-Gloss/BB Sandwash Pink Clone) looks like it's muted with brown and has moderate pigmentation. There may be some gray in Swept Away, but I don't trust my monitor enough to state that with confidence.

XOXO (Sparkley Mauve Demi-Gloss) looks similar to Swept Away when swatched, but the effect is achieved differently. From the site description: XOXO is "a cool toned mauveish heavier coverage pink with A LOT of beige glitter. It sounds dreadful- but there's a fantastic synergy that goes on when you mix a conservative mauve with something only a magpie could love. You get a very wearable color that's not too boring, not too sparkley- but absolutely stunning. Because it's a balanced color it should look great on a lot of different skin tones."

i have every SN gloss but 1. Are you looking for opaque to tone down your own lip color or just a soft pink in general? If I were to narrow it down to 2, It would have to be Swept Away and Modern Poet


You might also look at: Pink Lady (somewhat frosty), Gold Blush (very sheer), Berry Crush (more opaque), Divine(opaque nude), and Sparkle(white to tone others down)


I don't think any of the available lipsticks would be quite what you're look for.

I'm actually really quite new to using lipstick, but I'm loving the SN products I just ordered so I''d like to stay with SN if at all possible!

I vote for Divine, then!

I'm not sure how Divine compares to those other colors, but it would be excellent as a nude lip with any type of dramatic eye look. I would second the request for more muted, nude, pink-grey lippies though. I've been having trouble finding the right nude in SN. Divine was pretty close (very much on the beige/grey opaque side of pink). I'd recommend that to you.

To add to the possibilities , I've tried layering Modern Poet over Grace and the result was a similar tone, though not quite as light as you're looking for. I could image Kiss 'N Tell with Modern Poet (or maybe Pink Lady) on top would result in something close to the colour in the picture (Modern Poet toning things down a bit) . Divine shows up more brownish on me personally. Hope this helps

I LOVE Divine, I find it to close to MAC Viva Glam II (I think?) It's my favourite.

I'm another that would love more muted pink w/grey tones.

I did layer a few shades and got what you're looking for in the picture. i used sparkle (white) to dull down my own lip color, divine over that, and modern poet over that. let us know how you made out!
