With the new colors out-finishes aside- I have to ask the question...

if I have flamingo...do i need cotton candy?
if i have lilac...do i need iris?
if i have sage...do i need fern?
if i have beach plum...do i need dusty mauve?

I am TRYING (and failing miserably) to talk myself out of a few. lol. Opinions?

on a side note...film noir seems to have sold out with the new interference colors.

I feel ya, sista! I have to go home and rummage through my ever growing little boxes and palettes and check what I actually have. I was thinking the same about Cotton Candy... and many others.

Nah, throw in the towel and admit that what you 'need' and what you 'want' are two different things... then dig in, fill the cart and have fun

I'm with cupcake on this one, in fact I think she should be the spoke person for this new round of stuff. Throw that towel in the air and dance with joy when you buy all the eyeshadows you WANT!!!!!!

Hehe...you're all too funny. With eye shadows I rarely feel like there's an extreme need for any of them...skin care, some blushes, finishing powders, lippies- sure I can see a "need" situation- but eye shadows- they're cool, but more of a fun treat. I'm pretty sure we're all at a point where we have enough for 3 lifetimes- but it's sorta part of the fun.

I do tend to compare them with the other colors and only release ones where I think there is enough of a difference to justify someone needing both...which is why Splash didn't make it to the site- it's enough like Sizzle. Skip cotton candy if you have Flamingo, lilac and sage were both shimmers- and the new ones are completely matte. I almost feel like you're too young for matte- live it up before the wrinkles set in! Dusty Rose vs. Beach Plum- there's enough of a difference to justify both of them in the collection. If you're really into Beach Plum then the Dusty Mauve is a good one to have (it's more like Lavender than Beach Plum)- but neither of them are going anywhere anytime soon.

How young is "too young" for matte and how old is "too old" for shimmer?...

My thought is that it's all about attitude. We have a 15 year old who comes into the shop that I'd never recommend Quiver to (too sparkly), but I know women who are grandmothers who would happily rock that look. Soooo I guess "too young" for matte is when you stop looking in the junior's section, and you're never too old for some sparkle.

Oh believe me, you can go too matte when you're old! I do like a little bit of matte shadow sometimes, but I like a bit of sparkly somewhere in there!

For some reason, going completely matte always reminds me of the old ladies when I was growing up, but they were probably younger than I am now. Matte seemed to come in two colours. It was either that weird cement blue shade of eye shadow, or its institutional green cousin. Those do NOTHING to make you look young.

But a very soft pastel, or a nice neutral, not overbearing - that works well with mattes.
