In the medium coverage, I have come up with 1 buttery and 1 warm to 6 white. Something about the color is a little off. My face appears a bit chalky and kind of tinted with a dirty brown color. I am asian so I believe I do have yellow undertones. I am wondering if I should use less warm gold? Buttery gold by itself looks too yellow and I am a medium beige colored. I have also noticed that the foundation has nice coverage but my skin looks really lumpy and dry in some areas with my pores being more defined. I have tried the perfecting powder in Love lure but my skin still looks dry and lumpy around the nose and cheeks. Any skin care products or additional tips would be nice.
Can you load a pic to an email? If you send one through the website form I will be the one to answer it. It sounds like Warm Gold with Yellow Booster might be another way to go...or Olive plus yellow booster. Less Warm Gold might work, too. Also, it is best to judge the color about a half hour after application. The powders need a chance to blend with the oils in your skin before you can be certain the color is not right.

As for the dryness and flakiness, you need to be sure your skin is well hydrated and exfoliated. Hydration also helps with the pore size to some degree. Good choices for hydrating serums are usually water based. We have several, but I would need to know more about your skintype before I could really offer good suggestions.

Hi-hi, sorry for very bad no makeup pic. Can anybody tell me how to make my shade?

I am a very pale, cool olive-yellow, sallow skintone. A notch more cool yellow in my picture

Thank you.

Your skin looks lovely in the pic. I think you will end up some blend of Buttery Gold and white...plus maybe a little yellow booster. I would try 1 scoop Buttery Gold, 1 or 2 scoops Yellow Booster and about 9 or 10 white. Buttery Gold has olive and yellow tones so it might work on its own at 1 scoop color to about 8 white.

Thank you so much for this thread. It's so helpful!

I got color matched for Bare Minerals at Sephora and was Light, which I think was a pretty good match, except it made my face very red within 10 minutes, so it got returned!

I just received my sample kit and can't figure this out. I tried doing a swatch of each base plus ivory across the underside of my arm but no clear winners emerged. Like others in this thread, I think I've previously judged my skin tone as cool because of the redness in my cheeks, but I don't think that's right, so could use some help coming up with my actual undertone.

A couple of pictures, all without foundation.

September - I do tan in the summer, but the indoor light in this one must be doing something because my skin does not look this good in person. But I think that is a reasonably accurate view of my summer skin tone.

I look forward to hearing your suggestions. Thanks!

I really think Olive will be best in 1 scoop color to about 12 Ivory.

Usually, Bare Minerals Light is Warm Gold or Buttery Gold at about a 1:7 ratio.

Thank you so much! I tried 1:10 with olive first, and the color saturation looks about right, though I might make it 1:11. The color seems almost exactly right, but I did see a bit too much of a greenish tinge on my chin (presumably most apparent there because there wasn't any redness to cover?). I was thinking I could add maybe a half scoop (plus 5 or 6 more ivory scoops) of another color to get it a little warmer? I definitely have had trouble in the past with foundations being too orange so I don't want to go too far. Thanks!

You are definitely on the right track for warming it up just a little. If you need yellow, go with Buttery gold...if you just need it warmer, go with Warm Gold..both at the ratios you offered. Another thing that might counteract the greenish on your chin would be blush if you wear it there.

btw, I tried Meow a while back and Fierce Korat was too yellow and Fierce Absynnian wa bit too light... I used to mix them with my moisturizer so it would blend a little.

This is me wearing SN foundie. I think it was Warm Gold and Ivory with a bit of Ebony. shoot, I can't remember the exact measurement :(

leaper84- I still think Olive, but your Warm Gold and Ebony mix looks good in the pics. It is probably something like 1 scoop Warm Gold plus 1 scoop Ebony plus about 4 or 5 (maybe 6?) white.
