it's a website that posts one new item a day and that's all it sells for one particular day. Once it's gone it's gone until the next day when a new item is posted. Sometimes they do Woot-Offs where they'll keep listing new items as they sell out.

The Woot style: does that mean that the sale will only release one item per day at a sale price? And it won't be like a real sale where there is a whole bunch of stuff on sale at once?
So that would mean people would have to make one purchase everyday and pay for shipping everyday, which will really add up. I'm not really able to spend too much on makeup cauz my husband made a budget I have to stick too :( but sales are extra exciting for me cauz I get get more things that way, but if I have to pay for shipping like 5 times, it will make it not as good of a deal probably, so I won't be able to participate as much as I'd like.

Just my thoughts, but I could see how other may find it fun, because it is a neat concept.

I just thought of something, perhaps the reason you are thinking about Woot style is so it won't get sold out so quick like this past time because people would be waiting for the one item they really want, and so people who are international customers for example, will have a better chance of buying the item on sale(because usually they are at a disadvantage because of the time difference). But for them shipping is usually more too, so not sure if paying shipping each time would be worth it, but I'm sure someone who is international will chime in with their thoughts.
Another thing you can do instead of the Woot sale is post the sale in the middle of the night to give the international customers a better shot. I would set my alarm :)

Personally I would be unlikely to buy if it is woot style, unless it is something I really really must have, because of the shipping thing :( I would much prefer if several items (or all the items :D ) were listed at the same time to make it worth the international shipping (because I have pretty much cleared out my wishlist and stocked up on skincare recently, lol). But whatever works for you Karen :) Even if it were are few (maybe 3-4) items listed at a time (I have no idea how many items we are talking here ;) ) then that would potentially make it worth shipping for me.

I agree with you lilychemgirl. And since shipping went up I need to be more careful with my shopping, if I can't fill a cart to about $30 it's just not worth it. I definitely prefer that everything is released at the same time, but I do understand that it's more convenient and fun to do it woot-style.

ITA...
4 items at a time would be a lot better...

Have to agree - shipping would make it prohibitive for many of us if it's Woot style.

You are not alone! I didn't know, either. I was picturing a ceremonial dance, with feathers, and the yelling of "WOOOT!"

I also agree about the shipping being prohibitive for many, if things were to be released one at a time. I'm in the States, but I still consider shipping costs when I order. Small amounts add up, start eating into the gas budget which allows me to go to work 5 days a week, from which I earn a paycheck to pay for my *ahem* addiction here, as well as other trivial things like rent, food, utilities . . . :D

Hi everyone! I have only posted a couple of times but felt I needed to chime in. I agree with the ladies who voiced concerns about the Woot sale for the same reasons they mentioned. It sounds more like a daily lottery than a sale.
If the issue is different time zones, maybe post half the sale items and then the other half 12 hours later. That may provide more opportunity for everyone to get a chance to get something. In addition, maybe limit the sale items to 1 per customer. Just some thoughts.
I realize this is SNs way of trying to make sure everyone is able to get something and I am appreciative. I hope the ideas shared by your customers help and an alternative can be found. Thanks for all you do SN!

All I really meant by Woot style was fun, and irreverent, and fast.

I'm not 100% sure what we even have to sell on a clearance sale quite yet, but I do completely understand that you don't want to feel compelled to order every hour or every day for a week. We don't really want to ship as many orders as something like that would generate either. We're not lazy, but that doesn't seem like a good use of time. It's a lose/lose scenario.

I really don't have the details worked out, but I'd like to get it done within a short time frame so we can just get it done and over with. We do sell all around the world- given how quickly some things can sell-out, and in the interest of fairness we'll probably do more than one release so everyone gets a chance to grab a bargain without having to wake up in the middle of the night to do it. I'm just not sure of the logistics quite yet. Probably 2 releases spaced 12 hours apart would be a good solution. BUT I'll think on it some more.

Right now I have one shop that's full to the rafters, and another shop that's completely empty and shelf-less...so that's the first priority.
