I would just like to point out you guys are lucky to live in America. Lee jeans on sale in Australia would be $120! And very, very, very, very, very discounted Converse would still be $60! I'm so jealous!

About a year ago i did the same thing with my wardrobe. Basically i decided to stop buying heaps of cheap, crappy clothes and instead spend the money on more expensive clothes that look nicer and last longer. One of the biggest changes i made was to look at my wardrobe as a whole. I used to just buy stuff i liked, so i had a whole wardrobe full of clothes that didn't match. Yet i had no t-shirts (seriously none), and only 1 pair of jeans. Getting the basics really is important. It soud cliche but it's true.

This is the day! I've been holding onto clothes that are too small (because SOMEDAY...), out of style, have just a tiny stain, etc. Today I have a young lady coming over to help me and we're going to PURGE!!!! I'm going to shut my eyes and turn her loose in my "not being used" makeup drawer, and anything she doesn't want goes in the trash (shudder). Clutter and I are best friends, but it's now time to let it go. Hard to clean around it and the danged stuff gives birth on a regular basis. Two people living in a large house and there's no room (except for the furry kids - we'll always make room for them!!!) I'm determined, if not enthusiastic, and will let you know how it goes....Wish me luck!

Go for it! It gets easier & easier & feels better & better! I had a VERY hard time parting with some gorgeous leather purses that had been used VERY seldom or not at all, but once I DID it, I was positively GLEEFUL thinking of someone happening upon them & having FUN with them! Full kit of Nick Chavez products I'd never used,LOL ~ threw 'em in. Dish Turtle (drainer) that just arrived last wk turned out to be too large for my sink, so in it went! Came across DOZENS of jewelry boxes & figured they could be used to display donated jewelry or sold for next to nothing for people to wrap presents in, so in they went. Left a few pcs of jewelry in a few, too, as a surprise. You'll see; it gets more & more FUN!

Thank you for the encouragement!! I don't have the tapered jeans problem, BUT I have every other conceivable jeans problem. You ladies are really keeping me motivated. I've got to let the closet cleaning carry over into cleaning out the REST of my junk, like office supplies and books and... etc etc.

Yeah - regarding shoes - I need comfy shoes, and I never need to dress up. I wear Dansko clogs sometimes or trendy sneakers like Adidas or Puma. I walk a lot so I can't really wear heels on a regular basis, they wear out too quickly. I find kitten heels really comfortable but I go through the heels so fast it's not worth it. Other suggestions for comfy footwear that doesn't cost quite so much would be very much appreciated - good idea on Converse; I recently saw them at Target.
