Yeah, I won't add it up, but let's just say one of my orders that came with free eye shadow were paid with my points :)

I started slow, considering each and every color, then went into overdrive when I realized that it's not all about what colors I need ( I used to own ONE blush), but what colors caught my fancy. They almost all did :) I do have colors that I haven't used since I bought them, and it's not because they didn't work out, just that I'm a bit disorganized. It kind of works out when I re-discover colors and put them in the rotation for a while, so it's a nice surprise from time to time, without having to purchase anything, hehe. I spend a lot on the skincare line too, and new brushes here and there, so it adds up, but I consider this part of my life, and something I need (natural skin care) and have fun with (colors). Those that didn't work out, will work for my friends, so I don't stress on the purchases much (as opposed to researching for weeks before buying a new toaster).

I love getting the packages with the colorful tissue paper and the random samples, and it doesn't even shock my boyfriend any more, he got used to it. It's my income, I spend it the way I want, and SN helps me stay frugal and have fun at the same time. I'm so grateful I found this place!

One thing I do wish is that I knew local people to swap with, it costs me around $7 NZ to send even one eyeshadow to the states, so swapping options are limited. I try to gift random things to people, and send a few things at a time, but I just hate seeing stuff sitting around being wasted.

I'm pretty sure I'm in the same boat as Sam so I rather no add it up. But that being said the fact that I know I've spend 1k (and over) without needing to add it up should tell you how much I've spent

I just wanted to chime in and say Thank You! I tend to look at it like an entertainment expense...if you figure that a movie ticket costs $10 or so, or a DVD rental is $3, and you get maybe 2 hours of entertainment. Makeup provides countless hours of entertainment, and enjoyment for much much less- it's like buying yarn (my big indulgence), you can play with a $20 skein for hours, a single eye shadow can provide you with years of fun. Plus you have something you can swap or sell if you decide you don't like it- there's no guarantees with a movie ticket.

Don't feel too bad...you don't even want to know what I've spent on the makeup to clone. The most I ever spent in a day was about $700- including one lipstick that was $55 (I just had to know what a $55 lipstick was like...nothing truly special really).

I used to buy really expensive makeup/skincare (before kids, lol, although back then I was a one-neutral eyeshadow, couple of lippies kind of girl), my face mask alone was $180, (that is probably the most stupidly expensive thing I used to use, it wasn't that good anyway, but all my skincare was around that price), and I can honestly say that I am happier with all the SN stuff I use than I was with that (the only thing that was great was a cleanser I used to use, but I stopped being able to buy it anyway, boo hoo).

Hehe good point Lily - now that I've 'run aground' with as many colours as I can possibly use, the constant need for skincare largely replaces my colour-buying spending. Don't ye just *love* that where you once could talk yourself out of buying more colour because there's no real need, you genuinely can justify needing to buy skincare on a regular basis and hey, if you're getting a parcel sent to you aaaaanyway.... might as well toss in a couple colours... ye know, makes the postage costs all the more worthwhile (lol, that's my favourite 'persuade-me' excuse).

Just when I think I could never possibly need another e/s color, I run out of skincare stuff, and then I think "well... maybe just one more, since I'm ordering anyway"... I also love that I can try something I'm not 100% sure about as a GWP.

That argument never works on me, lol  but if you are getting skincare, then you get the gwp anyway, and you might as well make it up to the next $30 increment to get the free eyeshadow... but mostly I am obsessing about lippies at the moment, I keep adding more to my wishlist (although I haven't ordered in a (short) while because I am waiting for the next sale, which is good) - how many mlbb colours can one person possibly need? I mean, with eyeshadow there are sooooo many possible shades and finishes it is easy to justify having hundreds, but lippies?
My lippy collection is way behind my eyeshadow collection anyway, lol, I only have about 8 or so I use on a regular basis.

Rounding up to the next $30 increment gets me every time. Then of course I remember something else I need at the last minute that pushes me closer to the next $30 and before I know it I've spent more on make up than I have on fruit and veggies for the week!

But it's so worth it, those little pots and tubes of color make me SO happy and far outlast most anything else I spend money on! My DH encourages the addiction... Something about how the amount I spend on make up and clothes makes buying computer stuff guilt free?

Hehe...I married a computer guy too. It works out wonderfully because in addition to my makeup stash (which is everything SN has ever made, plus all of my clone stuff), I have a HUGE yarn stash- but he has an entire room of computer gear so he "gets it". It's really quite perfect- at least on the hobby front.

@Lilychem...welcome to the addiction my pretty. On the surface it seems that you can only do so much with lippies, but really- I feel like the give the average woman so much power over who she wants to be that day. I mean you could do a fire engine red, or a nude, or a purple, or or or- and it's easy to change them out if you decide you want to go from shy to vixen or vice versa. I kind of think you need one to go with each blush, or eye look. I have serious issues with lippy addiction though... if it were any other substance I'd have to go to rehab.
