Wow, thank you all for your sweet words.
I can already feel the bridezilla growing inside of me

but It's so much fun planing and making arrangements.
Our date is the twenty-fifth of September and I'm hoping for beautiful Indian summer (I don't even know if you use that term) kind of weather. Late summer early fall is my absolute favourite time of the year.
The only one in our family we've told so far is my dad, I wanted do give him a heads up so he will get used to the idea of spending some serious money on silk ribbons and such
It is so hard not telling my mum, I've been picking up the phone like four times today but I got to hold out a little bit longer than 3 days.
Me and my m2b do have one tiny little issue, which surname we are going to pick. Mine is really unusual, we are about 50 people in the whole world with this name, I really want to pass it forward. His on the other hand is one of the most common surnames in Sweden. But as of right now he is really stubborn and will not give it up.
Until we've shared the news I'm afraid I'll have to terrorise you with pictures and my silly thoughts. Just smack when I'm getting ridiculous.

That is so funny! I kept my surname as well as the only ones with my name (that I can find...) in the world are related to me. DH has, I think, the most common name in the WORLD, Garcia. I suppose a nice name in itself but I am sure 2/3 of latin americans are a Garcia. so we had this exact conversation as well!
I hope you get to keep your name. I love unique surnames, and it would be neat to carry on the name with so few of you left.
So you mom will ask this question? is that why you are waiting to tell her?
Love the pics, keep them coming,

There is no doubt that I am keeping my name, the big question is if he is willing to give his up and take mine? Sure it's fine to have different surnames but I'm still a bit old fashioned and would like our family to share a name. If we're lucky enough to have kids some day they will have my name, he knows this and is fine with it. There seem to be some pride going on with men and their surnames. I don't get it at all.
I just want to surprise my mum and the rest of the family. She has done some not at all discrete hinting this last year but I've just brushed her of. The best would be if I could keep my mouth until we've sent out the invitations, but that will take some serious will power on my behalf. I'm guessing April/May would the right time to invite if your getting married in the end of September and it's a long time until April

Ohhh I see. I suppose that changes things a bit. Our kids will take my name, but legally DH cannot change his name. Mexican laws are funny with surnames and legally they can only ever take the names from their parents. Wives also never take the husbands name upon getting married, and the kids get one of each when they are born. So traditionally in Mexico husbands and wives never have the same surname.
But I agree that men have some pride in their names, not sure what it is connected to, I know my brothers would have never taken a new surname, but then again they are of the same mindset of wanting to keep our family name going. I can see this will be a major compromise for your m2b, hopefully you will work something out.
And I can’t imagine how you are managing to not tell everyone you know about the wedding! I know each country has their own traditions, in N. America, typically the invitations would be sent out 2-3 months before the wedding, but friends/family and most invitees would have already been told about the date (either through a ‘save the date’ mail-out or in person by the couple) probably 4-6 months before the wedding, but not sure how they do things in Sweden. I had a friend recently married in Poland and all the organizing, telling about the date, etc…and such were done quite differently than in Canada.
The most important things are to get the location for the service and reception booked, these are the first to go. And be sure to enjoy all the planning. It can get stressful and somtimes you forget the purpose and that you are doing it becuase you want to spend your life with someone. The planning is part of the journey so take it in stride!
I think I like the style of the second pic best, it is more outdoorsy. And the colours are really pretty and autumn-y.
