Does he like watches as well? My uncle who golfs also loves watches... My sister and I caught him looking at $7000 watches on his son's Mac... sneaky sneaky! :o

@Karen - I found a birthday gift from ThinkGeek, thank you! :D I'm getting him those Miracle Berry tablets which make everything taste like candy. That should make for an interesting party... Candied beer, ohmy, I hope I don't have too much.

Cool! There are some cool blogs about it so you can get some ideas. They wear-off in about 30 minutes- so start with the tabasco shots if you're doing those. My first one wore-off mid way through a chug of balsamic vinegar- NOT PLEASANT. The last time we tripped we all loved lemon curd on scones- heavenly normally, but easily one of the best things I've ever eaten when it was combined with the tablets. I think I want to get some of the real berries for a Christmas party.

LOL! Sounds like so much fun... Unfortunately, it'll be a surprise for the birthday boy, so we won't have too many cool foods prepared ahead of time. He does love to cook though, so I'm sure he'll already have a bunch of spices... Plus he LOVES alcohol, so that should be interesting. I've told his best friend about it though, so he'll bring foods, plus I might drop by the supermarket after we go sledding

I totally want to try those, too! That's definitely a cool gift idea.

Thank you Karen, that is so sweet of you to extend such an offer to me! I will definitely give you a heads up when I head to your neck of the woods.

And thanks again to ALL of you for your wonderful ideas! My hubby is *very hard* to buy for! He is not a gadget guy at all. He does have a good friend that he likes to golf with but they are both small business owners and work takes precedence...so it's hard for them to coordinate their schedules at times. I will get him some new golf balls and tees for his stocking though.....He was looking at a Rolex once, but the 5K pricetag is/was a bit too much for our budget. One thing that I am going to do is send him a "beer of the month" subscription. He likes to try new beers from around the country/world when he can so I think he'll like that one quite a bit :)

Oh thank you Ruby!!! I'm going for Beer of the Month- I just did a big thinkgeek haul, and a $5 Rolex from NYC for his birthday, and was feeling a bit stuck for more ideas. Beer of the month sounds perfect!!

For the techno-minded, try Newegg.com. I've gotten some amazing deals from them on things like computer monitors, DVD portable drives for netbooks, etc. What about a hot-air balloon ride? (with you, of course!) Lauren

You are very welcome! You got a $5 Rolex??!! Do you mind if I ask which Beer of the Month club you decided on? When I googled it there were quite a few choices and I haven't made up my mind yet.

Thank you, I will check that site out too! While I'd enjoy a hot air balloon ride, hubby would not as he is not crazy about heights-told ya he was hard to buy for!

Newegg has some great stuff! We also like Tigerdirect for techie stuff too...just got our TV from them, and it was a great deal.

I was pondering this one with the domestic and international combo:

BUT I'm not sure...it seems like a lot to spend on beer. . There's also this club which is slightly cheaper, but they're all domestic:

I'm really leaning towards buying him a beer brewing kit from the Ithaca Brewing Company. He's the McGuyver gadget type, and I'm a mad scientist- so it seems like it could be fun. And it would make him easier to shop for on other occasions- just grab some interesting hops, or a book or something... Shopping for him would be so much easier if he had a real honest to goodness hobby, so every year I take a stab at trying to get him interested in something that isn't a computer (10 years- no luck).
