i know for sure i am a cool color (blue veins, very pale, burns/SCARS easily) -- and i think therefore i'm more of an ebony shade..
but ebony is FAR far too dark in general - i think i mixed way too much. it came out very ashy on me.

Olive might be better. Try 1 scoop color to about 12-14 white.

just tried it out- olive seems a little too gold/yellow on me. maybe i'm mixing too much. i'm nearly out of ivory from testing everything lol
i guess i'll order an ebony and just put less in than i did with my sample version.
thanks for your help!

Hello! I just ordered some lipsticks and blushes and LOVE them!! I was thinking of trying the foundation, but not sure what to get. I'm pretty fair, around a NC15-20 for MAC, I'm a Beige 1 or 2 for Alima. I think I'm pretty neutral (not very yellow toned, not very pink). My skin is combo and with the summer coming up, probably going to go get more oily on my forehead/nose/chin. I've attached my picture. Help please! :o)

Hi,
I think Ebony at 1Ebony:9 or 10Ivory. I would start with Original Formula.

So excited to have found this product and site!!

I've been using MMU for years, and still haven't found what works for me. Finding my undertones seems impossible to me sine I feel like my skin is yellowish, but my cheeks are reddish and I deal with splotchiness, large pores, oily/dry skin and uneven skin tone.

I used Bareminerals when I was younger and absolutely loved the product (not the price) until the Bismuth oxychloride (?) made me itch and break out in a rash horribly.

Then I tried EDM, and it was pretty okay.

Then I went with an Olivey color in Earthen glow minerals (Leila I think the name is) that seems almost too ashy in color for me, but I havent had the funds to change products until recently.

I was about to spend a boat load of money at EDM until a little google pointed me in this direction. Better product, great customer service, beautiful outcome?? CHECK!! I'm sold.

All I need now is to be told (yes, my hand really needs to be held as I am walked through this!! lol) what colors and recipe I should start with. PLEASE HELP!!! Thank you!!

I'll try to post a bunch of pictures in natural light & shade, and indoors.

Hi Jen, I've been happily using the original coverage foundation and I'm thinking of trying the all purpose formula and see if it makes me even happier. Problem is, when I've tried to change my formula in the past things went a bit funny.

I currently use 1 ebony : 9 ivory (2 of which are sometimes glow) : 1/2 lavender colour corrector. When I tried the medium coverage base in the past it looked pretty bad. It just didn't seem to blend into my skin colour wise (couldn't quite put my finger on the problem specifically), and it felt thick and dry.

Here's some ancient photos I dug up that show my skin tone relatively accurately in different lights. Outdoors, outdoors & indoors (flash).

From what I understand, the original coverage is the most forgiving when it comes to matching colours, so I started to wonder if I've been using the wrong tinted base and getting away with it. Ebony was the first shade I tried when I got my first sample kit, it seemed fine and it worked so I stuck with it but I do wonder if it really is the right shade for me... So, what do you think?

Christina1121-

I am thinking Olive, or possibly Warm Gold.
Olive: 1 scoop color to about 10 white
Warm Gold: 1 scoop color to about 7 white

This is a good starting point for Original Coverage or All Purpose Foundation. You might need to add one or two more scoops of white, but they will be close. I definitely recommend trying samples in case there is something that does not agree with your skin, or the finish is not quite right. There are many things we can add to adjust the color and finish. All Purpose Foundation is the simplest formulation, and usually works with all skin types.
